Cort Theatre is located in the heart of the Theater District, and is home to some of the best Broadway shows. Our season features a variety of productions, from new and upcoming shows to award-winning classics. Since 1912, we have been a leading cultural and performing arts center in the heart of the Theater District. The theater opened with the play Peg o' My Heart starring Laurette Taylor. This magnificent theater is a designated New York landmark and has been home to some of the world's most renowned stage productions. It offers a wide variety of programming, from Broadway shows and concerts to dance performances and family-friendly events. The intimate theater seating just over 1,092 guests provides an up-close and personal experience.

The Cort Theatre is a historic Broadway theatre located at 138 West 48th Street in the Theater District of Midtown Manhattan is known for its intimate setting and excellent sightlines. Designed by architect Thomas W. Lamb in the neoclassical style for impresario John Cort. The building's facade was modeled after the Petit Trianon in Versailles. The lobby is designed in the style of the era of Louis XVI, with Pavanozza marble and plasterwork panels. The arch of the proscenium stage is designed to be lit during performances and is made of perforated plaster treated with art glass.

The theatre was used as a television studio for the show The Merv Griffin Show from 1969-1972. It is currently owned by the The Shubert Organization. As of March 12, 2020, the theatre has been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
