Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC) is a not-for-profit theatre company located in the heart of New York City. For over three decades, MTC has been one of the country's leading producers of new plays and musicals. MTC productions have earned a total of 52 Tony Awards, including two for Best Musical.
The Manhattan Theatre Club has been a leading force in New York City theatre since its inception in 1970. MTC produces award-winning new works, classics and contemporary plays in its two theatres, the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre and the Biltmore Theatre.
The company's stated mission is to "produce the highest quality theatre possible in New York City and to extend the reach of its work by touring its productions nationally and internationally." MTC has produced over 150 new and classic plays, including "The Heidi Chronicles," "The Country Wife," "Proof," "The Dinner Party," "The Glass Menagerie," "August: Osage County," and "The Children." The company has also commissioned and produced new work, including the world premieres of "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife" by Charles Busch, "The Mineola Twins" by Rosalyn Drexler.
